About Me
Surgical Director, Adult Abdominal Transplant Program, Memorial Transplant Institute
I am a minimally invasive robotic hepato-pancreato-biliary and abdominal transplant surgeon at Memorial Healthcare System. I specialize in treating adults and children with tumors or lesions – both cancerous and non-cancerous – that affect the liver, pancreas, gallbladder or bile ducts. These conditions are particularly challenging because of their central location and proximity to major blood vessels and the bilio-digestive system.
With advanced training in robotic surgery, I offer cutting-edge, minimally invasive procedures that were once only possible through open surgery. This approach allows for greater precision, smaller incisions, less pain, and a faster recovery — helping patients get back to their lives sooner.
I also specialize in robotic solid organ transplantation, including robotic kidney transplants and living donor nephrectomies. In the Gulf Coast region, I pioneered several groundbreaking robotic procedures, including robotic kidney auto-transplantation, major liver resections, kidney transplantation, and the Whipple procedure.
My fascination with surgical innovation began in my young adult years, and I’ve always been passionate about integrating the latest technology to improve patient outcomes. I also believe in empowering my patients with knowledge — explaining their condition, discussing treatment options, and guiding them toward the best path for their health and recovery.
The most rewarding part of this work is seeing a patient’s relief and gratitude after a successful surgery or a cancer-free diagnosis. Every smile, every moment of renewed hope, reminds me why I chose this path. It’s more than a profession — it’s a privilege and a gift.
