About Me
I am an infectious disease specialist at Memorial Healthcare System, caring for patients with bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. These include pneumonia, HIV, tuberculosis, sepsis, and complicated skin and soft tissue infections. I have a particular focus on managing immunocompromised patients, including those with HIV/AIDS, transplant patients and those undergoing chemotherapy. I’m also experienced in antimicrobial stewardship, helping ensure antibiotics are used appropriately to combat resistance.
I was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after seeing the profound impact that infectious diseases can have on global health. During my medical training, I was fascinated by the delicate balance between pathogens and the immune system, which led me to specialize in this area.
Infectious diseases are complex and can evolve rapidly, requiring a deep understanding of microbiology and a holistic approach to patient care. Each case offers a unique challenge, and I enjoy the problem-solving aspect of diagnosing and treating these conditions. It’s rewarding to see patients improve under care.
When meeting with patients, I listen to their concerns, explain their diagnosis and treatment plan, and ensure they feel comfortable and empowered throughout their care. My ultimate goal is to make a tangible difference in my patients’ lives.
In addition to patient care, I’m involved in clinical research, including a focus on using NGS DNA Metagenomics to detect Legionella.
