Aggressive Triple Therapy Helps Adam Overcome Prostate Cancer

Adam, who had Prostate Cancer

At age 60, Adam was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer.

“My dad passed away in 2014 from prostate cancer,” said Adam, a bodybuilder for most of his life. “When he found out, it was way too late. I should have gone in when I was 50, but I didn't because I felt good. Then, one morning I woke up, went to the restroom, and I kept urinating and urinating. That was the first sign I ever had.”

“Unfortunately, when we detect cancer at stage 4 the five-year survival rate decreases to only about 30%,” said Brian Pico, MD, hematology and oncology, Memorial Cancer Institute. “With Adam, we took a very aggressive triple therapy approach using hormone manipulative therapy, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, which he responded really well to.”

“While you’re getting treatment, you’re gonna feel bad,” Adam said. “But when you're getting help from a place like Memorial Cancer Institute, you can’t lose."
