Teresa's Got Her Active Life Back

Hip Replacement Teresa
A lifelong athlete and career nurse, Teresa wasn’t pleased when severe hip pain put a halt to her lifestyle.

“It was kind of hard for me to get through that,” said Teresa, thinking back. “It was time to see a surgeon."

She did her research and sought out Daniel Chan, MD, Chief, Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Memorial Healthcare System.

“All the cartilage in her hip was gone; it was bone-on-bone,” said Dr. Chan.

After unsuccessful non-surgical options, Dr. Chan performed a bikini incision total hip replacement, a minimally invasive surgery that left an almost imperceptible scar.

“I felt fantastic,” said Teresa. “I was up walking the exact same day, and I was back to work in two weeks. Now I’m biking, lifting weights and playing pickleball again with my son.”

Teresa’s only regret was that she didn’t seek out Dr. Chan sooner.
