About Our Allergy and Immunology Fellowship Program

Discover the benefits of joining the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship at Memorial Healthcare System.

The mission of the Allergy and Immunology Fellowship is to provide adult and pediatric specialty training in Allergy and Immunology. Our Allergy and Immunology services provide equal exposure to both Allergy and Immunology and are also evenly divided between ambulatory and inpatient experiences.

The goal of the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship is to train fellows to become competent, ethical, and compassionate physicians, providing the highest level of care to their patients and families. We want to ensure that our fellows become good managers of healthcare resources and have the requisite clinical knowledge, skills, and attitudes to pursue a rewarding career in Allergy and Immunology, while engaging in clinical care, research and education. Our objectives include the provision of a rigorous, flexible, high-quality curriculum led by supportive faculty, staff, and program leadership committed to competency based medical education for each fellow.

Our graduates will advance the overall mission of Memorial Healthcare System which is to heal the body, mind, and spirit of those we touch. We aim for our fellows to act as agents of change, leading the delivery of exceptional care to our diverse South Florida community.

Our excellent faculty hold academic appointments at Florida Atlantic University, Florida International University, and Nova Southeastern University and are committed to training our future physicians. Each individual faculty has expertise in specific areas of clinical research and patient care. In addition to creating institutional wide protocols, our faculty lead numerous ongoing research and quality improvement projects.

Fellows receive in-depth experience in the full spectrum of allergic and immunologic diseases for both children and adults. In addition to core rotations in ambulatory and inpatient allergy and immunology services, fellows will participate in our immune dysregulation team, oral immunotherapy service, 22q multidisciplinary clinic, as well as a choice of electives including genetics, infectious disease, otolaryngology, pulmonology, and rheumatology.

We are proud to state that since Graduate Medical Education began at Memorial Healthcare System in 2018, we have achieved a 25% rate of under-represented minority trainees for the GME enterprise as a whole. This is partly due to our location in South Florida which is a very diverse area of the country and the recent emphasis and funding of UME and GME by state government. The faculty and administrative personnel at Memorial Healthcare System also reflect the diversity of South Florida. We will continue to place the same emphasis on diversity for the Allergy/Immunology fellowship program and all future GME programs at Memorial Healthcare System.
