South Florida's Family Birthing Center

Memorial's birthing center understands that the birth of your baby is one of life's most treasured moments. That is why we created the Family Birthplace, a special place for you, your baby and every member of your family. Through every step of your pregnancy, the Family Birthplace is dedicated to providing the support, education and high-quality birthing services to help you have a happy and healthy pregnancy, delivery and hospital experience. The Family Birthplace is a facility of Memorial Regional Hospital, Memorial Hospital West and Memorial Hospital Miramar.

A Birthing Center Focused on Family

At the heart of the Family Birthplace at Memorial is our family-centered care philosophy, which focuses on information-sharing and collaboration between families and medical professionals. With this level of involvement, your entire family can more fully participate in this exciting life event.

Childbirth Education Classes

The Family Birthplace at Memorial offers a childbirth education program called Expectations and Beyond to help prepare you for the birth of your baby. Expectations and Beyond features a variety of classes, including pregnancy planning, childbirth preparation, baby care, infant CPR and more. We also provide special birthing classes just for dads, siblings and grandparents.

Your Birthing Center Experience

When the time arrives to deliver your baby, you will find a warm, homelike environment with comfortable accommodations where you can share the birth experience with your entire family. Our beautiful maternity suites are furnished with medical equipment. Talk to your physician about the different birthing options available at Memorial's Family Birthplace.

Care Provided by an Experienced Staff

It is comforting to know that the Family Birthplace at Memorial can provide prompt, advanced medical care when difficult situations arise. Our birthing center's staff of board-certified neonatologists, anesthesiologists, neonatal nurse practitioners and specially trained neonatal nurses utilizes some of the latest techniques and procedures to monitor babies 24 hours a day, and every nurse is certified in neonatal resuscitation.

Lactation Services

Our board-certified lactation consultants have extensive experience in counseling breastfeeding mothers. New mothers can learn how to breastfeed successfully and how breastfeeding benefits their babies. Breastfeeding classes, educational materials and in-hospital support are available through Lactation Services.

At the Family Birthplace, we have worked hard to create an attractive setting with the comforts of home for you and your family. From on-site shopping to highly advanced security measures, we offer a wide variety of amenities for your convenience and peace of mind.
