Brett Cohen, MD, FACS
Chief of Bariatrics
Brett Cohen, MD, FACS, is a board certified general surgeon, and he is fellowship-trained in advanced laparoscopic and weight-loss surgery. His dedication to weight-loss surgery stems from the difference it can make in a patient's life. "For long-term success, it's about how you take care of the patient after the operation," said Dr. Cohen. He performs various bariatric surgeries, including Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, Lap Band®, and sleeve gastrectomy.
Jeremy Gallego-Eckstein, MD, FACS

Dr. Jeremy Gallego-Eckstein earned his doctor of medicine at the Luis Razzeti School of Medicine in Venezuela, before completing general surgery residencies at the Mount Sinai Medical Center and Maimonides Medical Center in New York. After completing his training in general surgery, Dr. Eckstein studied minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Cleveland Clinic in Florida, where he learned the latest techniques in laparoscopic weight management surgery. He is also fellowship-trained in advanced laparoscopic and weight-loss surgery.
Joseph W. Melendez-Davidson, MD
Dr. Joseph W. Melendez-Davidson, a general and bariatric surgeon, earned his medical degree in 2009 from the Ponce School of Medicine, in Puerto Rico. He then completed his general surgery residency with his first year at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, his second year at the University of Florida Medical Center in Gainesville, and his final three years at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he served as chief resident.
