Lower Extremity Injury Prevention Update: For the Competitive Cheerleader
Cheering is more popular than ever, with more than 500,000 high school girls either cheerleading at sports events or on competitive cheer teams. Unfortunately, it is also more dangerous; cheering accounts for two-thirds of catastrophic injuries among high school female athletes. Cheerleaders, some as young as 6 or 7, are particularly vulnerable to serious injuries. Most of these injuries, especially to the lower extremities, can be prevented.
Presented by the U18 Sports Medicine Rehabilitation staff, local cheerleading coaches are invited to attend an information session on managing and preventing common foot, ankle and knee injuries affecting cheerleaders. Coaches may choose from the 9am session or 11am session.
SPEAKERS:
Whitney Chambers, PT, DPT, OCS, U18 Sports and Orthopaedics Specialist.
Marcos Davy, PT, DPT, CSCS, U18 Strength and Conditioning Specialist
Course is free. Complimentary continental breakfast will be provided at each session.
